Thoughts on Shamitabh

A brilliant idea not so brilliantly executed...Bollywoodization plays spoilsport...Amitabh hams on occasions but pulls off other scenes only the way he can...one feels for the great actor he is and the greater actor he could have been! He would do so much the better without the melodramatic pitch which erases the difference between acting and over-acting. Dhanush is powerful and Akshara immensely cute and natural...kudos still for the voice experiment theme which has profound implications and remains uncharted especially in relation to the industry and showmanship contexts.
For me, the peak was Amitabh's remark early on in the cemetery that there is nothing to fear in a graveyard as no one ever dies in it. One goes there only after overcoming death and fear. The depth of understanding with which Mr. Bachchan delivers the brilliantly nuanced dialogue shows his class but then again one always desires more poise from an actor of his calibre.
